Is a Natural Weight Loss Diet Better Than the Pre-Packaged Ones?

We are constantly barraged with product after product advertised to help people lose weight. Whether it is the latest piece of exercise equipment or the next “miracle” fad diet, marketers know who is buying their products and they have an endless supply of them ready for your credit card. The diet and health and fitness industry is a multi-billion dollar market and if you need to lose a few pounds, YOU are who they are going after.

With all this marketing, how can you tell the difference between what works and what doesn’t? There are so many packaged programs it is difficult to choose, that’s for sure. The fact is it is often a better idea to seek out a natural weight loss diet program versus the late night infomercial kind.

A natural weight loss diet is one that takes into account a sensible eating plan instead of insisting you drink a special drink or take a special pill. Eating healthy foods in the right amounts at the right time is an excellent way to shed extra pounds and live a healthier and longer life. So, what IS a natural weight loss diet?

fastest weight loss dietFirst of all, let’s look at the word natural. Does the food you are going to eat come in a box or a can? Has it been processed or refined? That’s not natural. Some nutritionists use this rule of thumb: “If it didn’t exist 3 thousand years ago, don’t eat it!” Now, this may seem a bit harsh, but our bodies process foods a certain way. Those that are natural, i.e. whole grains, lean meat, fish, vegetables, fruits, etc. are great for us and help our bodies to run optimally, thereby cutting down on excess fat storage. Processed foods do the opposite. Our bodies don’t know how to process them efficiently and this can lead to weight gain.

In addition to WHAT you eat, a natural weight loss diet takes into consideration HOW you eat as well. For instance, eating more frequent, but smaller meals allows your body to be burning calories all the time. This can help to speed up your metabolism and help you keep from being hungry as well. If you are never ravenous, chances are you won’t overeat.

So you see, just by taking some well know, well documented facts into account about how our bodies work and process food, we can adopt a natural weight loss diet that can be extremely effective in helping us lose weight and forget about those late night TV products promising us miracle weight loss. Using common sense and a sensible approach may just be the best way to lose weight and maintain it for long periods of time.
