Most of us have wanted to lose a pound or two at some point in our lives. Heck, some of us have tried to lose MANY pounds at one time or another. Losing weight is a difficult and often time consuming process and in this day and age of I WANT IT NOW, it is tough to opt for something that takes a long time when a quicker solution exists. This leads many to try quick weight loss programs. You know the kind… they promise you success in 12 week or less or something of the like. Many of these programs DO work, but are they REALLY the answer you were looking for?

There is an old adage that goes something like “Any results worth getting are worth waiting for.” But, who wants to wait to lose weight? Well, if that weight comes back again quickly, did you really even lose it to begin with? Many of the quick weight loss programs do work, but once you stop using them, the weight you lost comes back to you and often, you gain even more weight than you had before. This is because they are not a LONG TERM solution. Long term weight loss is what you are REALLY after, isn’t it? If that’s the case, then you need to work a program that offers you a real solution.

Long term weight loss is achieved by adopting a healthy lifestyle and focusing on small goals that can be achieved on a daily and weekly basis. A pound or two of weight loss per week may not sound like much, especially when compared with quick weight loss programs that tout 20 pounds or more of weight loss in a month, but over a year, they can add up to 50 or even 100 pounds which is significant weight loss by any standards.

In addition, losing weight slowly, but consistently is usually much healthier for your body and will allow you to adapt to the weight loss more easily which in turn will help you keep it off. If you work a program for 12 weeks, lose 40 pounds, then stop the program, what do you think will happen? That’s right, it will all come back again! Consistent lifestyle changes are what we are after. So make sure that when you start modifying your diet, you eat foods that you like and can stick to.

Instead of going for the seemingly EASY approach and trying a quick weight loss program, focus instead on adopting healthy eating habits and exercise to encourage steady, consistent weight loss over time.
