Many have pondered the question of what is the BEST weight loss diet on the market, but that question is perhaps best asked another way. How about, “What is the best weight loss diet for ME to choose?” You see, we are all different. We have different body types, different likes, different dislikes, well, you get the idea. There is almost never ONE single solution for any particular problem or goal. We are all unique, but on top of that, in order to achieve our weight loss goals we have to implement a number of plans, such as diet changes, exercise, etc.
So, how then do you go about choosing the best weight loss diet for YOU? Starting out with making a list of your likes and dislikes about food seems like a wise idea. Do you hate steak or even the thought of meat or pork products of any kind? Yeah, well, then the Atkins diet is probably not the way to go.
How about veggies…do you gag a little whenever you hear the word VEGETABLE? If that’s the case, then a vegetarian diet is probably not the best weight loss diet for you.
Some diets allow you to eat a little of every kind of food, but just in moderation based on a specific amount of portions and calories per day. These can be effective, but usually work over longer periods of time and turn off those who are looking for quick results.
Other diets feature point systems where each type of food is issued a point value and you can eat so many points per day. These can work extremely well, unless you have trouble keeping track of points, adding them up, and remembering which food is worth how many points. In addition, if you stop using the point system altogether, it is possible for you to gain all the weight you lost and sometimes even more.
No matter what diet you choose, the best weight loss diet for you is the one you choose and STICK WITH for at least 30 days. Now some diets just don’t work, and I’m not saying you should stay on a diet that isn’t working, but if they do work it may take up to 30 days before you start seeing results. Consistency is the biggest variable of any diet or weight loss program bar none. No matter how easy they say it is, if you don’t stick with it, it won’t work. Always do a little bit of research. The more you know about your body and the way it works the better chance you have of understanding why you put on weight, and more importantly, how you can take it off.
Not everyone will take well to a certain diet, and eventually the diet has to change as your body and lifestyle changes. So keep learning about food and how it affects your body, and never, ever give up.
