‘Dieting’… it’s a hated word by just about anyone who has ever had to go on one. Who wants to count calories, limit what you eat, and worry about special powders and pills in their daily life? Well, if you are seriously overweight, then trying out a few weight loss diets is probably something you will HAVE to do at some point in your life. While many of them work, NONE of them will if you lose the motivation to say with them for the entire time.
Let’s check out some way to stay motivated while on weight loss diets:
1. Don’t bite off more than you can chew – Ok, so I started with a diet pun, but here is what I mean. If you need to lose 100 pounds, don’t make THAT your goal. Instead, break off little chunks and set manageable smaller goals such as losing a pound or two per week. After a while, those little goals will add up and they are MUCH easier to reach than trying to focus on one HUGE one!
2. Don’t choose a diet plan that you know you will hate – Who cares how much weight your friend lost, or what they promise on the commercial on TV. If the diet is something that you HATE, chances are you will not be successful. Take for example the Atkins diet… sure it might work, but if you are a vegetarian, that diet would be TORTURE! The same is true for meat eater’s who try weight loss diets that focus only on eating vegetables. Choose one that works with YOUR tastes and you will have much greater success
3. Partner with someone else – Just about everyone knows someone else who needs to go on a diet. Find someone who needs to check out some weight loss diets and try to choose one together and then support each other on the journey. Having someone to share experiences with is a GREAT motivator to make sure you stay on track and reach your goals!
4. Feed yourself positivity every single day! – Getting and staying motivated is often as simple as hearing motivating messages on a regular basis. Go grab some motivational cd’s or books and take in some of that content each and everyday. That can be the thing that helps keep you on track throughout the time that you are on your diet.
No one says dieting is fun, but sometimes, it is a necessary thing. By following the simple tips above, you will have a much better chance of sticking with whatever weight loss diets you choose and eventually reaching your goals of living a healthier and THINNER life!
